&lt;b&gt;MISSION&lt;/b&gt;
Utilize advanced product and process knowledge to manage and execute the apparel/accessories development process for assigned styles.  Provide leadership for the category in all material development efforts and by role modeling innovation and technical/professional expertise in all aspects of the job.


&lt;b&gt;RESPONSIBILITIES&lt;/b&gt;
Oversee product commercialization for assigned styles.  Analyze manufacturing capabilities, anticipate problems, facilitate problem solving  and address issues in a timely manner.  Communicate with vendor managers, regional and liaison offices, product team members or others to ensure a smooth product development process. May require travel to factory locations.
Develop a commercialized seasonal material palette according to calendar deadlines with vendors, factories and/or Liaison offices.
Lead material development efforts within the category.  Research new technologies and fabrications in coordination with Design, Materials Department, RPM, and liaison offices.  Provide product team with new ideas and appropriate options.  Coordinate and oversee all seasonal and rolling material development projects within the category.
May require to travel to seasonal trade shows
Support regional source plans and pricing targets as identified the Global team/ Sourcing Manager. Stay informed about vendor capabilities and performance, factory relationships, quality issues, material pricing and lead-times.
Assist Category Teams, Sales Sample Coordinators, Supply &amp;#38; Demand Planners in resolving material commercialization issues, manufacturing problems and material ordering issues. Drive and support material metrics such as material ratio, adoption rates, etc.
Ensure all appropriate development documentation is maintained for assigned styles and material developments 
Work with cross-functional product team to meet style commercialization and material development timelines.  Maintain data on product development status vs. deadlines and communicate information to team members.
Source, develop and price materials at suppliers, and/or liaison offices.  Coordinate all information and test samples for materials approval.  Communicate relevant style information to QA/Lab as needed throughout the season.  Provide information updates to Materials database and Project List.  
Collaborate with category product team to understand and accomplish seasonal product concepts.  Participate in fit sessions and/or product review with category product team regarding assigned styles.  Identify key issues in product construction, material selection, manufacturing and pricing.  Collaborate on resolutions in a timely manner. 
Lead the team on pre-costing details on specified styles. Collaborate with Sourcing to review and analyze price quotations from factories.
Execute graphic development process including review of GIS and artwork.  Provide input on sample submit critique.  Coordinate execution with graphic and embroidery departments.
Ensure prototypes accurately reflect construction specifications.  Design / Merchandise and sourcing manger, Liaison office, QA, Lab, Raw Materials, and Colorist in critiquing prototypes and other submits as necessary.
May have responsibility for on-site development at factory locations.  
Provide technical expertise to development team members.  Mentor  others to build up their knowledge, skills, and contribution.


&lt;b&gt;REQUIREMENTS&lt;/b&gt;
Bachelors degree in apparel/textile design, merchandising, engineering, industrial engineering or related field at least 5 years relevant apparel or textile industry experience.  
Advanced knowledge of apparel/accessory construction, material construction and properties, textile manufacturing, costing, pattern making, embroidery and screenprinting.  Good understanding of design and development processes from inception through production.  Ability to be a technical resource to others.
Proven skills related to problem solving and continual innovation.  Able to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions.  Able to demonstrate a sense of style, creativity, and understanding of color to work with designer in accomplishing a point of view.  Able to understand the ?big picture? related to NIKE business, processes and consumer needs.
Good oral and written communication skills.  Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a diverse group of people.  Demonstrated leadership capability.  Ability to mentor others.</description>
